THE FEAR OF BEING VULNERABLE IS A VERY COMMON FEAR

Jul 10, 2022

How much do you cringe when you hear the word “vulnerability?”

Maybe the very thought brings up feelings of nausea or conjures images of a circle around a campfire and streams of tears all around.

I wonder if any of these apply to you:

  •  You stick to conversations on topics that feel safe for fear of speaking out of turn, offending someone or inviting conflict?
  •  You’re stuck in a job the fails to fulfil you yet society deems it successful and the notion of disappointing your friends or family in light of following your calling is too scary.
  •  You don’t go to the gym for fear of being judged.
  •  Dressing in bright colours will make you stand out and draw attention which feels uncomfortable.
  •  Smiling at a stranger is a strange thing to do - imagine if this meant there was then eye contact!?
  •  The idea of talking about the fees to work with you screams rejection.
  •  The thought of asking that guy or gal...

WINSTON CHURCHILL MISSED THIS PART

Jul 03, 2022

“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”

- Winston Churchill.

I wholeheartedly agree with what Winston Churchill said but I would add, “we make a life by what we give to ourselves.”

Most people know that giving back is the “right” thing to do, but it comes at a cost if you fail to discover why you do it.

Many years ago, I was introduced to “The Shift” movie by Wayne Dyer. I had seen “The Secret” of which both are life changing experiences and had brought a “shift” within my own cognitive thinking. The film illustrates how and why to make the move from ambition to meaning. Such a shift eliminates our feelings of separateness, illuminates our spiritual connectedness, and involves moving from the ego to a life where everything is primarily influenced by purpose.

I believe as humans we will always be discovering who we are; it is a continuous process...

I HATE SALES

Jul 02, 2022
"I HATE SALES."

This was something I used to say.

One of the most inspirational (actual not pretend) influencers in my life is Wayne Dyer. He was an incredible source of wisdom and knowledge. I was introduced to his work right at the start of exploring my purpose in 2015.

He said: "Change the way you see things and the things you look at change."

So I've recently adopted the same perspective to sales and selling.

I have really zoned in on what sales means to me? How do I want to talk about sales and how can I become better at this to feel more confident with my service without feeling pushy, salesy & clunky!

I bet this resonates?

The reality is it costs us all absolutely very little or NOTHING financially to add value to someone else's life. Period!

Most of you will believe in your product or service right?

You are excited about the value it can offer and impact it can have to...

THE SUNDAY NIGHT BLUES ARE A REAL THING.

Jun 26, 2022

Many people fail to realise the importance of everything around our business days that affects our overall performance in our business.

If you want to be successful in running your own business you have to be focussed on being 10/10 and on top of your game.

Why would anyone invest time, money and energy into you if you didn’t? Would you?

A 2015 Monster survey found that 76% of people get bummed out on Sunday night.
Whilst this data may be “old”, I did some research myself recently asking friends, family and client what they do on Sunday evenings to feel ready for the week ahead and ready to go! I believe this figure may even be a higher figure in 2022!

However, Sunday can still be a fun day. You've just got to have the right mindset and commit to something, whether it be getting tasks done, relaxing, or spending time with your loved ones.

Here are 8 things I noticed that successful people do on their Sunday evenings:

They spend quality time with their families,...

ALL YOU HAVE IS RIGHT IN-FRONT OF YOU

Jun 26, 2022

I have recently found my love for journaling and meditation again. Previously, I made these acts a chore by planning them into my day and it became forced. I changed my approach and have started listening to what I want to do more based on my feelings and it has resulted in a big leap forward.

Today I was writing and I thought about what most people working towards. Often it is along the lines of “I’m trying to become a…”

Coaching is about asking powerful questions. I share with clients that as much as we do not have to be a job expert to coach within a specific field or industry, I do notice that I ask more powerful questions when I have an understanding and credibility within that field and I am more empathetic in my skills of listening and through my tonality in the moment with someone.

This is why I specifically love to work with coaches around confidence, career and business. I have credibility as a leader, culture, confidence,...

CAN I PICK YOUR BRAIN?

Apr 30, 2022

You think it is a simple question. After all, “can I pick your brain?” does not seem harmful or annoying and even though I know people have no bad intention when they ask me this… I dislike it and so do the CEOs, senior leaders and business owners I know.

It came to light recently when someone said it to me and it made me feel as though it was very self-serving and non reciprocal. Given I am a Coach, I have strong values and every action I take and decision I make is aligned to these. If not I challenge myself to the rationale.

One of my strong values is centred around giving back and serving others so of course it stands that answering this question would be inline with this, however I am also focussed on building relationships. I always believe any interaction between two people has the potential to be incredibly powerful for both parties.

So what is the difference and why do we hate this?

Collectively, we seemed to agree that we hate this because this...

CALM IN THE CHAOS

Apr 18, 2022

I want to start off by asking a great question. I have noticed as a coach, one thing I constantly refine is my ability to ask better questions. Although I believe you do not have to be the expert in a field of which you serve others, when you do have knowledge end experience you will find you ask better questions and have more empathy. This is when coaching is most effective, especially when complimented with great listening.

My question is: what does calm mean to you?

Pause this for a moment and I will come back to this. I want to share about this idea I have had recently related to coincidences.

Have you ever noticed that you see a word, a car, hear an idea and then you see the same thing the next day and the next and the next and suddenly it feels like this is all a huge coincidence. Did you know there is actually a name for this?

It is actually called the Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon. The more scientific name is the frequency illusion.

It can lead us to believe there is a greater...

WHY YOU SHOULD MOVE FROM THE CORPORATE CHAOS TO RUNNING YOUR OWN COACHING BUSINESS?

Apr 18, 2022

Thinking small…

Recently I made the decision to become a part of the great resignation and leave my 19 year career at a top FTSE 100 retailer.

I started many years ago as a student and became a leader at the ripe old age of 21 but at 34, I noticed it did not excite and fulfil me in the same way any longer. I felt I had lost my sense of identity, direction and everything started to feel very numb in life.

In 2015, I started qualifying in coaching and in 2018 I established my coaching business. I have invested tens of thousands in my own development since and proudly so.

I am a huge advocate of self development, personal growth, learning every single day and now managing our mental and emotional selves in life.

Since this, it has become apparent that I have a very high belief system working for me. What I mean by this is I possess a unique abundance of confidence, resilience, determination, focus and curiosity for the world and creating a life that brings fulfilment, energy and...

Apr 18, 2022

HERE ARE 5 THINGS I WOULD HAVE DONE DIFFERENTLY…

I WOULD HAVE INVESTED TIME, ENERGY, EFFORT AND MONEY IN THESE 5 AREAS TO KEEP ME FOCUSSED ON BELIEVING IN MYSELF…

ASK HOW MUCH YOU ARE POURING INTO THESE?

NETWORK

ASK WHO YOU KNOW? ARE THESE PEOPLE SEEING POTENTIAL IN YOU?

KNOWLEDGE

WHAT IS THE KNOWLEDGE THAT I HAVE?

SKILLS

HOW DO I APPLY THE SKILLS I HAVE?
